Recently I was invited to speak at a baby shower for one of our faithful ladies.  We had a great time; but one of the things I really enjoyed was this game.  I put together a list of ten things that I consider "must have's"  while I am pregnant.  The mother who could match the most home remedies with the correct symptom won a batch of homemade laundry soap.  Can you match the remedy with the ailment?

The Modern Woman

In preparation for our next ladies meeting I have been doing a lot of reading.  I dug out some of my old college books from my Christian womanhood class and found this piece in one of them.  Hope you all enjoy!

Proverbs 31 - Revised For Today

• Who can find a modern woman? for her price is equal to that of a man.
• Her husband had better appreciate her, or she will find a man who will.
• She will look out for herself and not him all the days of her life.
• She works willingly with her hands-as long as she gets adequate pay and an appropriate title.
• She is like the merchant's ships, and eateth only gourmet food.
• She riseth also while it is yet morning, puts herself first, and then if there is any time left, she will consider others.
• She considereth a new house and buyeth it (no matter what her husband says).
• She maketh up her mind and abideth stubbornly by her success manual.
• She perceiveth that she is good, and that her wants and needs are of number one importance.
• She worketh hard at the things that are important to her, and sacrificeth all upon the altar of career.
• She looketh down on those whose priorities are not the same as hers; and vieweth them with disdain.
• She is not afraid of the snow her her household, that is their problem; and besides, let her husband take his turn.
• She maketh herself  coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple, whether they can afford it or not.

• She looketh out for herself and stays too busy to worry about her family.
• Her children love the lady at the day care, and her husband also hath a special lady friend he can talk to.

• To her, rights are all important and beauty is vital, but a woman who disregards the Lord and His plan shall be totally unfulfilled.

What is Oxytocin?

Why do they call the act of marriage (aka. sex) lovemaking?, What is one of the benefits of nursing that has nothing to do with the baby's physical wellbeing? and, How are these two subjects connected. The hormone oxytocin is the answer. Oxytocin is the pleasure/bond forming hormone that your body releases during the act of marriage. It is the hormone that signals your milk to let down when its time for you to nurse your baby (or even when you hear your baby cry), and it is also responsible for signaling your body to start contractions. You may have heard of pitocin. Pitocin or Syntocin are artificial forms of this hormone. The body of a woman is so amazing. Even more amazing is the God Who created the bodies of women. When you marry a man and get to enjoy the pleasures that God meant only to be enjoyed by a married man and woman, the woman's body releases this hormone which causes her to form a bond with this man and to love him. (This is one of the reasons why casual sex for women, which is being pushed so hard by the feminists, will never work! There is no oxytocin for men.) This may also be why that young lady you know who is being mistreated by that man (whom she is not married to) and she will not leave him.

Also, babies who are breast fed will form a bond with their mothers that cannot be duplicated with bottle fed babies. I do realize that some women are not able to nurse for whatever reason. If you are one of these women - be sure that you are truly in that small percentage of women who cannot nurse-before you switch to formula. Most of the time its a latching issue that causes our problems. See a lactation consultant; then enjoy being a wonderful mom that has to bottle feed that beautiful baby of yours!
